The heat of summer typically means more people going to swimming pools, and so it’s a good time to review some general rules for the Jefferson Municipal Pool.

Pool Manager Simone Lang says children must be at least nine-years-old to be at the pool by themselves or need to be accompanied by someone who is at least 16-years-old. Lang asks for adults to keep track of their children and know that lifeguards are on site for emergencies. He adds that diving is only allowed in the deep end of the pool, which children have to qualify for.

“Any children do need to pass a deep end test, where they can swim down and back twice across the swimming pool before they are allowed to swim, on their own, in our ten-foot section.”

Lang encourages positive behavior and for everyone to play nicely in and around the pool.
