Residents have less than a week left to give charitably to a local organization and the Guthrie County families it supports.
The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first-ever Summer Food Drive, with donations going to the community’s New Opportunities location, which provides services to low-income families to improve their quality of life and self-sufficiency. Food donations are needed year-round, especially during the summer when school is not in session. Chamber President Kristen Crouthamel says the items most needed are soup, tuna, peanut butter, fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, and paper products. Donations can be dropped off at the Guthrie Center and Panora Hometown Foods locations, Dollar General and Peoples Bank in Guthrie Center, and the New Opportunities office in City Hall. The drive lasts until Thursday, July 25th.
