Five Greene County softball players were recognized for postseason honors by coaches in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Senior Megan Carey was named to the All-Conference first team. Senior Jenna Beyers and junior Izzy Bravard were both on the second team, with honorable mention honors going to freshman Carmyn Paup and eighth grader Emma Hoyle. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams were 5-9 in conference play and 10-18 overall.

Carey was named to the first team outfield. She played center field for the Rams and batted lead-off as a left-handed slap hitter. Her batting average was .406 iwth just three strikeouts in 96 at-bats. Carey scored 32 runs, by far the most on the team, and she had 44 put outs, also the most on the team for outfielders by a wide margin.

Bravard switched to slap-hitting this season and she batted second. Defensively, she played first base for the first time and was named to the second team on the infield. Her batting average was .365 and she was seven of eight stealing bases. She had a .968 fielding percentage.

Beyers mainly played shortstop, but did pitch some, and she was named to the second team as a utility player. Beyers batted third and hit .341 on the season with 18 runs batted in, nine doubles, and she had the lone homer hit by a Greene County player this season.

Hoyle batted cleanup as an eighth grader and led the team in run batted in with 25 to go with a .259 average at the plate. She was the main pitcher for the Rams.

Paup batted fifth and played third base. Her batting average for the season was .219 with 17 RBI. She struck out only eight times in 73 at bats.
