Dallas County is looking to fill a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the urgency to find someone has increased in recent weeks.
Planning and Development Senior Planner Samuel Larson reports that the Commission has had to cancel recent meetings because they lacked a quorum. There are nine spots on the Board, and in order to make any decisions at least five commissioners must be present, which has proven difficult lately due to being short a member. For gender balance purposes, Larson says they would prefer to appoint a female, though there’s no restriction on where the person lives, be it an urban or rural area of the County.
Planning and Zoning is responsible for reviewing preliminary plats, final plats, conditional use permits, zoning changes, comprehensive plan changes, and other issues, and presenting their recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.
