The Panorama baseball season ended in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday with an extra inning loss to Interstate 35 in the district semifinal, but there’s no question it was a successful year.
The Panthers finished with a record of 15-14 including their two district games. It’s the first time the program has posted a winning record since 2012.
The turnaround was helped in part by twin sophomores Drew and Evan Taylor and their freshman cousin Brice, who transferred to Panorama from West Central Valley. The trio were key contributors with either Drew or Evan leading the team in most offensive categories.
Drew Taylor was also the team’s top pitcher, posting a 1.83 ERA in 53 1/3 innings with 84 strike outs against just 22 walks. Brice Taylor had the second most innings on the mound with a 3.66 ERA and better than a strike out per inning.
Panorama loses five seniors from this year’s squad, but there’s plenty of reason to believe the team could be even better in 2020.
