The Dallas County Treasurer’s Office is preparing to move into new offices starting next week, though the transition will result in the closure of two County functions for a day.

Treasurer Mitch Hambleton tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the new facilities for the motor vehicle and tax departments in the Dallas County Courthouse are ready for them, so they’ll be taking the weekend and this Monday to shift their workplaces. The tax department will be moving down to the west wing of the first floor of the courthouse from the second, while motor vehicle is transitioning from the building it currently shares with the driver’s license station at 918 Court Street to the east wing of the first floor.

Hambleton points out that while the motor vehicle and tax departments will be closed Monday, the driver’s license station will remain open. Each of the offices will reopen on Tuesday, barring any delays. Hambleton says he’s excited for the new offices, which address previous space issues, and he’s confident the new facilities will be a better fit for his employees and provide better services to the public.
