The Perry Public Library is heading down the stretch of their 2019 summer reading program, and the first wrap up event this year will be for the teenagers.
The finale party for the teen summer reading program will be held this Saturday from 5-8 p.m. Assistant Library Director Misty VonBehren says the theme for the event is “Shoot for the Moon,” which goes along with the overall summer program theme of “Universe of Stories,” and involves a lock-in at the library. “My teenagers have really liked it when I have an after-hours event for our finale, which means basically that we lock the library and then we let the teenagers in! And they get to kind of have their way with the library. And that just happens to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. So that’s why my finale is a little bit sooner than usual, because I wanted to coincide with that particular important date in history.”
Activities during the evening include Nerf wars, an assortment of games, and an escape room. There will also be food and drinks provided, and drawings for this year’s grand prizes. The teen summer reading finale is free to attend and no registration is required.
