Two communities in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area have been announced as recipients of Community Development Block Grant funds Tuesday.

The cities of Dexter and Guthrie Center were both awarded about $252,000 from the Iowa Economic Development Authority to support community investment projects. The grants are awarded for community facilities, downtown revitalization, and single-family owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. These two communities are among 29 in the state who were awarded, based on benefit to low to moderate income persons, slum and blight elimination, financial need, project impact and readiness, and commitment of local resources to the project.
