Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller is set to testify before the U.S. House Intelligence and Judiciary committees later this month.

U.S. Congressman Steve King says Mueller shouldn’t have to testify because he already did an investigative report outlining everything that he went through for possible collusion with President Donald Trump and the Russians in the 2016 election. On the other hand, King says he believes Mueller should testify.

“He needs to go testify in order to demonstrate his compliance with the threat of a subpoena, he’s agreed to do it. But he said his testimony won’t go outside the Mueller Report. So if he stays within the four corners of the Mueller Report, there will be nothing new that comes out.”

King believes the Democrats are still trying to find a way to impeach the president, going back to what he believes was a decision made by high-ranking Democractic officials the night Trump won the election in November of 2016. King explains what the Mueller Report really was about.

“It was never designed to technically exonerate the president. Because it started out with a hypotheses, a theory that Trump had colluded with Russians, instead about trying to find a crime and then prove a crime.”

Mueller is set to testify on July 17th.
