A celebration that started Wednesday is heading into the home stretch, as the Minburn Sesquicentennial is entering its final two days today and tomorrow.
Saturday festivities will focus largely on class reunions, with all Minburn alumni invited to the Washington Township School from 2-4 p.m. for an all-school reunion. There will be history tours of the building available for the entire community, and a special focus on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn class of 1977. At 4 p.m. the venue will shift back to Meek Park downtown, where there will be homemade ice cream and brownies available, followed by a meal provided by Brewer Family Farms at 5. The evening will wrap up with a concert featuring Lil Red and the Medicated Moose Band, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the park.
Sunday morning, the community is invited back to Meek Park for “Praise in the Park,” starting at 10 a.m. with breakfast. Randy “Doc” McCaulley will then play a Christian music concert at 10:30, followed by closing ceremonies for the Sesquicentennial at 11:30. The Celebration Committee reminds attendees that there is a cost for food during the festivities, but all the entertainment is free of charge.
