There are some upcoming July programs with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.
The Jefferson Elks Lodge is sponsoring free Greene County-wide swimming lessons at the Jefferson Municipal Pool. It will be held from 10-10:50am from July 8th-12th. There is a limit of 50 participants. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner says having these opportunities allows those who don’t know how to swim a way to learn for free.
“Well I think it’s a great thing for the kids because they are $20 (for normal swimming lessons), and sometimes $20 can help a family out. It’s important for kids to learn how to swim and if the reason they’re not taking swimming lessons is because of the fee, then we’re very happy that the Elks is doing this.”
Another program is the Junior Golf Camp. It will be from July 9th-11th. 7-10-year-olds will be from 8-9am and 11-14-year-olds are from 9-10am at the Jefferson Community Golf Course. The instructor will be Micah Destival and the cost to participate is $20.
Call or stop by the Greene County Community Center to sign up for either program.
