Newcomers wanting to hunt are required to enroll in a hunter safety course, and one is happening in Guthrie County.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Guthrie County Conservation Board and Panorama FFA Chapter are holding a course on July 18th and 19th in the Panorama School District Office Boardroom at the high school. State law mandates that anyone born after January 1st, 1972 must have successfully completed a hunter education course and must be at least 12-years-old before obtaining an Iowa hunter license. The course will last from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 18th and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on July 19th. Attendance both days is required, and participants should bring a sack lunch on the 18th. Registration must be done through the DNR website, a link to which is included here.
