The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with the canvass of last week’s special election for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District bond referendum. The final tally was 1,124 “yes” votes, and 280 “no” votes, an approval of 80% and a voter turnout of 21%. After reviewing the figures, the Board approved the canvass and made the election results official. Next the Board approved the 17th pay application from the Samuels Group for the law enforcement center project, in the amount of $709,556.93 to eight different contractors. The Supervisors were then updated on the latest progress of construction.
At 9:30 a.m. there was a public hearing to consider temporary construction easements on the Raccoon River Valley Trail for the Stratford Crossing development near Waukee. No one objected, so the Board approved the resolution. They also set July 16th at 9:30 a.m. as the time and date for a public hearing regarding a shared sanitary sewer easement at Forest Park Museum. Next, the Supervisors approved two right-of-way purchases for the Secondary Roads Department, one for $804.50 for a parcel near Adel, and the other for $909.50 for land near DeSoto. County Engineer Al Miller also gave an update on current and upcoming road projects.
Finally, the Board approved a building inspection service contract for fiscal year 2020 with Finestead Enterprises, and held discussion but took no action on amendments to the wind energy conversion system application requirements.
