The Minburn Fourth of July and Sesquicentennial Celebration officially begins tonight, but the activities really kick into gear tomorrow with the Independence Day event.

The day will start with the parade around town at 9 a.m., with lineup starting at 7:30 at the Heartland Co-op. Following that, the bulk of the festivities will take place at Meek Park, including food vendors, old fashioned games, varied entertainment, and a car show. However, organizer Teresa Bailey points out, all of that will be put on hold when the attendees gather to see what the past generation left for them. “The highlight, of course, of our celebration, both the Fourth and Sesquicentennial, will be opening up our time capsule. And that time capsule box that we will be opening has the date on it of ‘1969,’ so that was 50 years ago. And that will be at 1 p.m. at the Meek Park downtown.”

Evening activities in Minburn include a community meal, raffle, pie and quilt auctions, games, and musical performances. The day will wrap up with the annual fireworks display at dusk.
