The Perry Golf and Country Club will be hosting their sixth annual Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 7th, and this year’s event will recognize former Perry resident and club patron Tom Holmes.
Each summer the country club honors the memory of a member who made a significant impact on Perry during their lifetime. Holmes, who passed away on January 20, 2018, was known for his service to the country while in the Air Force, his work with the Perry Elks Club, and he could frequently be spotted mowing lawns around the City. The tournament will play a little differently this year, with the normal open division being complimented by a new senior division. The format for the open contest is a round of 18 holes for each participant, with the top finishing golfers playing an additional nine holes to determine the champion. The elder division will consist of 18 holes from the senior tees, and entrants must be 60-years or older.
The cost to participate in the Memorial Tournament is $30 per player, with most of the proceeds going into a pot for the winners. The remaining money will help to fund the next year’s event. Pre-registration is required to take part, and can be done by calling the Perry Golf and Country Club at 515-465-3852.
