A Perry man was arrested Tuesday morning for bringing weapons and drugs into the Dallas County Courthouse.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Shawn Daniel Dillinger entered the courthouse at 11:40 a.m. to pay his property taxes. As with all entrants to the facility, he was subject to a search of his possessions through the X-ray machine. Inside the bag Dillinger was carrying, Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the building discovered a loaded 9mm handgun and an extra magazine, in addition to marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. He was promptly arrested and taken across the street to the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently being held on $2,000 bond and awaiting his initial court appearance.

He is being charged with serious misdemeanors for carrying weapons, possession of marijuana – second offense, and possession of methamphetamine, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Infante said in a statement that he didn’t believe there was any threat to anyone at the courthouse during the incident.
