The festivities for the Minburn Sesquicentennial and Fourth of July Celebration will start tomorrow evening, kicking off five straight days of events.

Organizer Teresa Bailey says they wanted to get an early start on the celebration, which is based around the theme of a popular show that rolled from 1950-1963. “We’re going to start out on Wednesday, the 3rd, in the evening with music and food, and that’s going to continue on through the weekend. The theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Rollin’ Home,’ and that’s in honor of our town’s outstanding ‘Singing Wheels’ program, which was a big part of the town’s history. We will have some of the costumes and pictures and so forth, that will be on display during our celebration.”

There is a cost for the community meal tomorrow, which will start at 5 p.m. at Meek Park, but the concert featuring the Ma Deuce Band at 7 is free to attend. Bailey also reminds people that the annual Fourth of July parade will be Thursday morning, and they ask that participants sign up online ahead of time. The lineup for the parade will be at 7:30 a.m. at the Heartland Co-op, with the procession commencing at 9.
