Corteva IT Digital and Platforms Lead Jim Alcombright. He was part of the announcement on June 5th.

Following the initial announcement in early June, a new scholarship program is now available for area students.

The Rural Forge Scholarship is a partnership with Corteva Agrisciences, Accenture and Des Moines Area Community College, that allows 25 students from 39 rural communities in the Lincoln Highway Corridor around the Jefferson, Carroll, Perry and Boone areas, to further their education in DMACC’s computer languages program.

Granular Senior Director of Engineering Bryce Hemme says they’ve had opportunities like this in the past, but now as part of Corteva, this is the first time they’ve done this program.

“So this is something we’ve had several initiatives over the years. But this is an opportunity now as Corteva, standing along as its own independent company, to really make an initial investment to grow local talent (and) also educate staff that we hoped to have as our talent pool in the future.”

Corteva pledged $187,500 to the pilot program. Accenture Executive Linc Kroeger describes the different partnerships that came together to make these zero college debt scholarships a reality.

“If you’re going to do something meaningful and big, you’ve got to do something that’s bigger than yourself, and you’ve got to have faith that others will join you if it’s really a worthwhile journey. I’m sharing Corteva Agriscience again, but realistically it’s a company of great people who care about rural Iowans, rural Americans. You just have to walk out in faith that those people are going to see this is worthwhile.”
