A Perry woman faces a felony for allegedly driving drunk in Jefferson.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer responded to a call from a clerk at Sparky’s One Stop gas station on Highway 30 in Jefferson at 3:45pm Sunday. The suspect left the store driving a Dodge Durango. The officer located the vehicle on Elm Street.

When the officer ran her license plate through the statewide system, it came back that the female owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. During the traffic stop, the officer noticed several signs of intoxication from the driver. During the investigation, the officer also saw there were three children in the vehicle. Police Chief Mark Clouse says an officer stayed on scene of the traffic stop until a family member picked up the children.

The driver, 31-year-old Ashley Nicole Paulsen of Perry was arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for her third or subsequent offense for an OWI, three aggravated misdemeanors for child endangerment, and two simple misdemeanors for driving while suspended and failure to provide proof of financial liability. She was booked into the Greene County Jail where she was released under her own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
