A search warrant was executed in Guthrie Center after law enforcement were notified of marijuana being given to two minors.

According to court documents, on June 26th an 11-year-old child and her mother informed a Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy that during a sleepover at a friend’s residence on June 17th, 34-year-old Karrie Elizabeth McCrea of Guthrie Center gave the minor a marijuana joint and a glass marijuana bong to smoke, which she did. The minor also told the deputy that McCrea’s stepdaughter smoked marijuana that McCrea provided. On June 28th, sheriff’s personnel executed a search warrant at the residence located in the 300 block of South 3rd Street, where a glass bong was found as well as “dozens upon dozens” of burnt marijuana joints and other drug paraphernalia. McCrea’s husband, 36-year-old Jordan Daniel Liggett was chased by law enforcement through the residence until he was eventually tackled and handcuffed. Liggett has three prior drug convictions, and methamphetamine pipes with residue, vape liquid, and THC wax were also located.

McCrea and Liggett were both arrested and face several charges. McCrea is charged with two counts of distributing to a person under the age of 18, a class B felony; two counts of possession of a controlled substance first offense, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Liggett is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, a class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors. When interviewed at the sheriff’s office, McCrea denied supplying marijuana to either of the minors, though she stated she began smoking marijuana at the age of 12 and believes children as young as 11 have the ability to decide whether they can or should smoke marijuana.
