The Raccoon Valley Radio ‘Lil Big Red Radio traveled to Menlo Saturday for the City’s sesquicentennial celebration.

The town celebrated its 150th anniversary with a variety of free, historical, and family friendly events including a parade, steam engine and helicopter rides, contests, tractor pull, street dance, and a fireworks display. Menlo may be best known for its neon Menlo Oil Company sign that waves in front of the old gas station which was owned by Harry Kalbach Sr. The sesquicentennial committee honored its legacy by selecting Kalbach’s granddaughters, Julia and Coleen Kalbach as the parade grand marshals. The Lil’ Big Red Radio broadcasted live Saturday, playing music and giving public service announcements.
