The Perry City Council convened Friday morning for their end-of-fiscal year session.

The meeting began with a pair of public hearings regarding rezone requests. One was for the East Perry Plaza, rezoning from LI (light industrial) to AC (arterial commercial), while the other was for Crossroads Church, going from RD (residential duplex) to AC. No one spoke against either request and the Planning and Zoning Commission endorsed both, so following the hearings the Council approved the first readings of ordinances amending the zoning distinctions. The Council also approved the second and third readings of an amendment to the code of ordinances regarding permitted uses and bulk regulations for AC districts.

Much of the meeting was devoted to financial transfers, which included: $43,189.36 from the emergency revenue levy to the general fund; $50,000, $14,286.31, and $12,311.06 from the local option sales tax fund to debt service, Carnegie Library Museum, and Town/Craft Building funds, respectively; and $20,205.05, $468,058.35, and $340,255.86 from local option to close the North Street, 2017 sanitary sewer, and soccer complex projects, respectively. Other items approved included: a pay request of $255,180.16 to Jensen Builders for the airport hangar project; approval of an application by T.C. & B. Corporation to the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s High Quality Jobs program; two additional members to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department; and revisions to Planning and Zoning Forms.
