A Jefferson man was sentenced to probation following a guilty plea in another case.
According to court documents, 20-year-old James Hoyle of Beaver had his charge of a Class D Felony for assault causing serious injury dismissed and pled guilty to another case with a similar charge. Hoyle was placed on one year of informal probation after pleading guilty to an amended charge of a serious misdemeanor for assault.
The charge stemmed from an incident on September 3, 2017. Hoyle assaulted the victim in the 300 block of North Wilson Avenue in Jefferson. Hoyle was originally charged with a Class D Felony for assault causing bodily injury, but court documents show he pled guilty to the lesser charge. He was also ordered to pay over $500 in fines, surcharges and court costs.
