Greene County was a 4-2 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball winner in Des Moines over Saydel last night. Coach John Hupp’s Rams were playing for just the second time this week and both resulted in conference road wins with a 6-4 victory at Nevada on Monday. The Rams are 7-16 overall and 4-9 in the conference while the Eagles fell to 6-13.

Junior Brent Riley pitched a complete game in picking up the victory. He scattered eight hits and three walks to go with one strikeout. The defense played well with just one error. Saydel had two errors.

Both teams scored once in the second inning and Saydel took a 2-1 lead in the third. The Rams came right back with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to round out the scoring.

Greene County had eight hits with junior Carter Morton getting a double and single. Senior Clay Smith doubled, while senior David Richter, Riley, senior Joe Anderson, junior Nick Breon, and junior Tyler Teeples each had one hit. Richter drove in two runs and Anderson had one RBI.

The Rams are back at it tonight hosting non-conference opponent Panorama (Panora) at Allensworth Field. The JV game starts at 5:15 p.m. with the varsity game around 7:30 p.m.
