Jefferson Matters: Main Street offers two mini-grant programs for downtown businesses.

JMMS Program Director Peg Raney says one grant is for exterior building facades. Businesses can apply for up to $500 to make small improvements to the outside of the building. Raney says it can be used for new paint, installing windows or whatever the building owner would like to do to improve the facade.

The other grant is for storefront signage. Raney points out that there is a separate application for that as well, and it is co-sponsored by the Jefferson Rotary Club.

“We want (something) unique (and) not just something that you’re just going to stick up in the window. But something that really talks about your business outside and promotes it that way. Any of our businesses are welcomed to take a look at that. It needs to be approved and it’s up to a 50/50 match of $500.”

She adds that businesses such as Unger Insurance and Methayler Photography have utilized the storefront signage mini-grant. For information regarding either mini-grant or for an application form, click the respective links below.
