The Gilbert Tigers put a quick end to Greene County’s four game softball winning streak with a 10-run rule victory on Thursday night. The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference make up game saw the Rams lead 1-0 after the top of the first before Gilbert batted. The Tigers scored four first inning runs to go with three in the second, one in the third, and three in the fifth to win 11-1. Greene County fell to 8-16 overall and 5-8 in conference play.
The Rams had just two hits- singles from Tieryn Tucker and Kyla Beyers, and Carmyn Paup had the lone run batted in.
Eighth grader Emma Hoyle took the pitching loss. She allowed eight earned runs on 13 hits and four walks while recording two strikeouts.
Greene County is in Des Moines tonight to play Saydel in HOIAC softball and baseball.
