It’s not every day that a business near Cooper in Greene County continues to grow, but that’s exactly what New Cooperative did.

New Cooperative Communications Director Gary Mortiz says they recently added 13,000-square-feet onto the northside of their location near Cooper, bringing the total amount of space to 19,000-square-feet. The building is used for storage and service for customers and for their protection services, seed distribution and anhydrous storage and distribution. Work on the expansion began in November of 2018 and the majority of the project was completed this month. Mortiz adds that they also constructed four 30,000 gallon tanks for fertilizer storage.

Mortiz talks about why they wanted to expand the Cooper location.

“The customer base in our Cooper and Greene County area continues to grow, our trade area keeps growing along with the demand for our services. The support of the Cooper and Greene County and the surrounding counties have just really been supportive. And with that we want to continue to provide the great services that we’re known for. We wanted to give our members and customers down there the facility that can support what they’re asking from us.”

Moritz says the facility has a full-time agronomist, sales technician, office personnel and other staff to help customers and manage inventory levels. The expansion also includes overtime staff as they continue to grow.
