Cancer survivors, caregivers, and community members came out wearing their best boots for Guthrie County Relay for Life’s “20 Years of Stompin’ Out Cancer.”

The annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society included a silent auction, cake walk, face painting, and other activities. This year’s survivor lap was led by Lillien Gilson and her family, who were recognized as this year’s honorary survivors for organizing Guthrie County’s first Relay for Life event 20 years ago. The event also included a caregiver lap, luminaria recognition, and live pie auction. At least 14 teams are registered in the county and have raised over $47,000 this year to date. Besides cancer research, the proceeds also help the American Cancer Society provide programs and services for patients and families, support prevention education, and advocacy efforts.
