The City of Adel is in the midst of several projects, and at the most recent City Council meeting they approved bids and contracts for two of them.
The first project is one of the biggest the City is currently undertaking: the construction of a new water treatment plant. McClure Engineering presented six bids for the job, with each of them being very competitive. The bids were all within $1.2 million of the others, in addition to each being well under the engineer’s estimate of $13.65 million. In the end, the low bid was $11.65 million from John T. Jones Construction Company of Fargo, North Dakota. The Council approved the low bid and awarded the project. At their next meeting, the Council will approve the contract documents, and the project is expected to begin this year.
The other project involves window replacement at Adel City Hall. At their meeting in May, the Council approved the bid of $68,500 and awarded the project to Anderson Services, LLC. The action during the June meeting was to approve the contract. There’s no timetable for when the project will be completed, but it’s not expected to disrupt business at City Hall.
