The monthly meeting of the Perry Lutheran Homes Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support group is this coming Tuesday, and anyone dealing with either disease is encouraged to attend.
PLH Director of Marketing Mollie Clark says the group goes over a wide range of topics each month, and the attendees have found it very rewarding. “It can be a lonely and isolating thing to have a family member go through this, or to be a caregiver to somebody suffering with Alzheimer’s or dementia. And it’s just a good place to go to find hope, help, and support, you can learn about the disease and the progressions that might happen, and also connect with people that are in similar situations.”
The support group will meet Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Perry Public Library. There is no cost to attend and registration is not required. It’s led by PLH Chief Care Officer Deb Koelln, who is a certified dementia practitioner and master trainer and has a long history of dealing with the illnesses. Future meetings of the group will be on July 30th, August 27th, and September 24th.
