A five-vehicle wreck on Highway 169 east of Perry occurred early Thursday morning, blocking traffic in both directions.
The incident happened at around 5:45 a.m. at the underpass of the intersection of highways 141 and 169. While emergency crews cleaned up the scene, the north and southbound lanes of 169 were blocked, as were the on and off ramps on the south side of 141, for more than three hours. The collision included three semis and two passenger vehicles, and a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy said there was one minor injury reported. The individual was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Dallas County Hospital. While the official cause of the crash is unknown at this time, law enforcement officials suspect the dense fog to be a contributing factor.
The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Perry Police Department, the Perry, Minburn, and Woodward fire departments, and Dallas County EMS responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
