Dallas County Conservation is continuing their year-long celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Sand County Almanac with an ecosystem restoration project.

To honor the book’s author, Aldo Leopold, Conservation is planning what they’re calling a “Re-Story-Ation.” Participants will reflect on Leopold’s June and July Almanac essays, and will take part in the Buffalo Wallows project at the Kuehn Conservation Area. The project is an effort to restore the wild prairies around the arena at Kuehn, which represents a mid-1980’s restoration effort. Attendees will be tasked with injecting a number of prairie forbs, flowering plants, and other species into the prairie habitat.

The program will be conducted on Tuesday, June 25th from 7-8:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, though preregistration is recommended. To learn more or to sign up, stop in or call Forest Park Museum in Perry at 515-465-3577.
