Since they tore down the old fire station in June 2018, the Adair Fire Department is coming full circle with a grand opening for their station during the annual Jesse James Chuckwagon Days.

The building was funded by $50,000 in community donations and $100,000 in matching funds from the Adair Community Foundation, Agri Grain Corporation and Owner Revolution, Incorporated. The department reached their funding goal last April for the building, which will have greater space for equipment, offices, a meeting room, and kitchen.

Fire Board President Steve Bireline invites the public to celebrate the facility, “It’s the community’s building. We would like to invite everybody, we’re going to have a grand opening for the new fire hall on June 21st which is the Friday night of the celebration. And the fire department is going to have water fights and then the Guthrie County Cattlemen are going to cook ribeye sandwiches and have two sides with that meal and that will just be a freewill donation. You know it’s basically to thank the community for what they’ve done.”

The grand opening will start at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow with water fights on 4th Street at 6 p.m. The fire and rescue departments will also be hosting a beer garden and barbecue at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. For more information on the festival, visit here.
