Stuart emergency agencies are now better equipped to reach patients in more remote areas that larger vehicles cannot.

The Stuart Fire Department recently received a grant from the Iowa Independent Order of Odd Fellows to purchase a new Utility Task Vehicle (UTV). Stuart Fire Chief Mike Renslow says this a new addition to the department, “Typically with things like that firemen’s personal (All Terrain Vehicle) ATVs would be used where this will be a lot better, especially for if you have a patient that you can’t get your ambulance to or a fire truck to, you get this down there and load them up to take them to the ambulance.”

Renslow thanks the IOOF Grand Lodge of Iowa for this purchase, that will help them find anyone in distress in wooded and rougher terrain areas.
