The Perry Chamber of Commerce is adding a little something extra to tomorrow’s weekly farmers market.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says last year the Chamber tried to have activities each week, but that proved to be a bit too much to handle. However, she says they still want to make the market feel like an event, so this year there will be special festivities on the third Thursday of each month. That starts tomorrow with Public Safety Night. “So we have invited the Fire Department and the Police Department, (and) Emergency Services from Dallas County to come out. So it’s exciting for kids especially to see the big rigs, the fire trucks, and the ambulance and things like that. So they’ll be able to show off some of their new equipment and interact with the community. It’s all about public safety, so interacting with those individuals so that people are familiar with those faces and know that it’s a great thing to have them here in our community.”
Pasutti adds, the Perry Firefighters Association will be doing a grill out, so people can get dinner and support a good cause while shopping at the market. She also reminds people that 2nd Street will be closed tomorrow between Willis Avenue and Warford Street to accommodate the public safety vehicles. The Perry farmers market runs each Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Josh Davis Plaza, until the last week of September.
