The last week of June will be a busy one at the Adel Public Library, with a quartet of programs scheduled for kids in the summer reading program.

The first two events will both focus on music, and will take place this Monday, starting with a visit from the Des Moines Symphony Academy. From 10-11 a.m., kids can participate in an “Instrument Petting Zoo,” where they’ll get hands-on experience with string instruments designed specially for children. Space is limited for this program, so registration is required. Following that, there will be a live performance by Real Beal’s One-Man Band at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s community room.

Two days later on June 26th, the library will be hosting a showing of “The Lego Movie 2: the Second Part” on the big screen in the community room. The movie is rated PG and has a runtime of one hour and 47 minutes. The library will provide free popcorn for the event. Finally, on Thursday, June 27th, tween and teens are invited for a Henna Painting program that will start at 2 p.m. Each of the programs are free to attend, and with the exception of the “Instrument Petting Zoo,” no registration is required.
