Greene County follows up a six-game week with another busy one on the baseball diamond starting tonight. The Rams host North Polk (Alleman) at Allensworth Field in Jefferson in a JV/varsity doubleheader. The varsity game tonight will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Rams are coming off perhaps their most impressive victory of the season, a 2-0 shut out of Class 2A number six Van Meter in the opening round of the Saydel tournament in Des Moines on Saturday. Game two was rained out. Tyler Teeples pitched a complete game three-hitter for his first varsity pitching victory. Austin Delp and Nick Breon both doubled to account for the first run of the game in the fourth inning, and Bryce Stalder singled in a run in the seventh.
NP is 6-1 in Heart of Iowa Conference play and 11-4 overall. The Rams are 5-12 on the season and 2-5 in the league and lost to the Comets in Alleman last week.
Coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com is set to begin around 7 p.m. with first pitch shortly thereafter.
