A Panora woman faces a felony charge after allegedly driving drunk in Jefferson.
According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer was notified about a vehicle having trouble staying in its lane around 6:21pm Sunday. The officer followed the reported vehicle once it entered city limits on Highway 4 heading northbound. The officer saw the vehicle leave its lane and performed a traffic stop in the 800 block of South Elm Street.
Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio the officer noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle, along with blood-shot eyes and slurred speech from the driver. Clouse says the officer performed a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. The driver also consented to a breathalyzer test and the results were .149-percent concentrated blood alcohol level. The legal limit is .08-percent.
The officer arrested 48-year-old Patricia Lynn Monthei of Panora. She is charged with a Class D Felony for her third or subsequent offense for an OWI, and simple misdemeanors for failure to provide proof of financial liability and driving on the wrong side of the roadway. She was booked into the Greene County Jail.
