The Jefferson City Council set a date to sell $2,540,000 in general obligation bonds for equipment and other projects.

City Administrator Mike Palmer says the list of equipment and projects included in the bonds are for essential and non-essential items. Some of the items are a new fire truck, a bike trail to the Greenewood Center, and a mechanical arm garbage truck, among others. However the Council previously approved a loan agreement not to exceed $2.4 million in GO bonds. Palmer explains that a $243,000 expense for a “shared use” path to the new Greene County High School and Career Academy project on Central Avenue was added. He talks about what the City will use to pay for the added expense.

“That’ll be paid right out of our TIF (tax increment financing) funds so it’s completely separate. But it’s kind of like having a loan within a loan. We can put it with the bond sale so we can get a better rate. But that’s how the amount came up to about $2.6 (million) almost.”

Palmer points out while the City has already spent some money on a few projects, others have yet to have finalized plans, such as paving of the City Hall parking lot.

The Council is expected to sell the bonds at their June 25th meeting. See the full list below of all of the items that are covered from the $2.54 million bonds.
