The Greene County Development Corporation Board met on Tuesday.
GCDC President Sid Jones gave two brief housing updates. He said plans are still being finalized for Rowland Construction Company to build four-plex housing units in Jefferson. They are looking to purchase a lot with $30,000 that the Greene County Board of Supervisors gave to them recently. Once the purchase is finalized, GCDC will look to the Jefferson City Council to approve their ten-year tax abatement for multi-family residential properties.
During another housing report, it was mentioned that a meeting will take place in July with officials from the Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Economic Development Authority dealing with some of the housing projects that are currently being considered with help from the state level.
An update was then given about the initial Community Development meeting that happened last month. About 35 people attended the meeting and the next one is scheduled for June 27th. GCDC will request that only one individual per entity needs to attend the second meeting. The purpose is to get all entities to work toward the same unified goal for a project.
