The public is reminded of an event being held tomorrow to unveil the renovated progress of the Guthrie Activity Center.
Located in Guthrie Center, the Guthrie Activity Center has undergone renovation of the interior, along with a new roof, and a transformation of the facade to harken back to the building’s origins which is expected to be completed this summer. Guthrie Activity Center Board President Dennis Flanery says visitors will not recognize the community space, “And when they come in they’re going to see that we’ve added a meeting room, we’ve updated the lighting, new paint and new walls have been put in, new doors, new flooring. And then we’ve also added a number of multimedia-type things, we have some big screen t.v.’s that have been mounted to the walls, a drop-down screen, there’ll be a new speaker/microphone system, there’ll be Wi-Fi set up. We’ve also installed cameras to make sure that the facility stays secure.”
An open house will be held from 4-7 p.m. tomorrow for residents to see the Board’s work, which was made possible in part by community donations and a $70,000 grant from Main Street Iowa.
