A motorcycle versus SUV collision Saturday in Boone County injured three, two from Jefferson.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, authorities responded to the incident at 3:35pm at the intersection of Highway 30 and L Avenue. Fifty-four-year-old Kenneth Dale Hostetler of Jefferson was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on L Avenue. He was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 30. He then crossed the eastbound lanes into the median crossover. The report shows Hostetler failed to yield at the posted yield signs before turning into the westbound lanes onto the highway and struck the driver’s side door of a 2010 GMC Terrain SUV, that was driven by 52-year-old Christopher Charles Bryant of Boone.

Hostetler was ejected from the motorcycle to the northwest. His passenger, 56-year-old Susan Marie Sherlock of Jefferson was also ejected off of the motorcycle to the north. The SUV traveled a short distance to the west after being struck and came to a rest facing northwest on the right shoulder.

Hostetler suffered injuries to his right leg and head and was transported by Mercy One to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Sherlock had injuries to her right leg and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by ground ambulance. Bryant suffered abrasions to his left arm from his airbag that deployed, but refused medical treatment. The report shows Bryant was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The SUV sustained $10,000 in damages and the motorcycle was considered to be a total loss.
