An Ankeny man was cited for failure to yield at a railroad crossing after his semi truck collided with a train west of Stuart Tuesday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 74-year-old Ronald Carter was driving a semi-tractor trailer, registered to RKT Trucking of Adel, southbound on Talon Avenue at about 10:40 a.m. when he failed to yield at the railroad crossing north of White Pole Road. An Iowa Interstate Railroad train struck and tore off the truck’s empty grain trailer. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles sustained significant damage. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and Menlo and Stuart Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
