While the high school golf season may have ended more than two weeks ago, the summer will be anything but quiet for Panorama’s Kolby Shackelford.

The junior claimed the Class 2A individual state championship on May 23 by shooting an even par 69 before the tournament was shortened to just one round because of rain. That earned him a trip to Disney World at the end of this month to play in the High School Golf National Invitational June 27-28.

The tournament invites the state champion in every division from every state. In all, 224 boys and 120 girls will be competing over 36 holes with the top boy and top girl each receiving an exemption to the Junior PGA Championship.

Shackelford also expects to compete on the Iowa Junior PGA Tour as he has for the past few summers.
