This week marks the annual Iowa Free Fishing Weekend, and Dallas County Conservation is giving families a chance to take advantage of it with a special event.

Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer says they are hosting a Family Fishing Fun program from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Sunday. It will be held at the Glissman Conservation Area, which is located between Adel and Redfield. Keffer says attendees are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment to the event, but emphasizes that not having any shouldn’t prevent people from taking part. “We’ve got a little bit of equipment to loan out if folks don’t have their own. Come on out to do a little fishing, that pond there at Glissman, it’s a nice spot. It’s got some bluegill, maybe some smallmouth bass in there, so it’s great for beginning or experienced anglers. And it’s just a really fun weekend!”

There is no cost to attend the Family Fishing Fun event and registration isn’t required, though Keffer says it is appreciated. To learn more or to sign up, stop in or call Forest Park Museum in Perry at 515-465-3577.
