
A stellar pitching performance by Cole Arnburg helped the West Central Valley baseball team pick up its first win of the season Tuesday as they shut down ACGC 10-0 in six innings.
Arnburg pitched six scoreless allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out 15. A one out single in the first inning by Avery Wheatley was the only baserunner for the Chargers before Arnburg retired the next 17 in a row. Arnburg also caused some havoc on the bases, reaching on a single and a walk with two stolen bases and two runs scored, including a steal of home in the third inning.
Three Wildcat hitters reached base three times with Carson Wadle recording a single, an intentional walk and a hit by pitch with two runs and an RBI. Blaise Beane got aboard three times and scored three times and Braiden Beane also reached on three occasions, including a two-run double in the third.
Will Byars pitched four innings for ACGC, allowing eight runs on four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.
The Chargers fall to 0-7 on the season. Next up for them is a doubleheader Thursday against Interstate-35. West Central Valley is now 1-7 and will host Van Meter Thursday for a doubleheader.
