A couple of early season losses, a slew of rain outs, postponements, and cancellations, and one very soggy baseball diamond in Adel had the season off to a slow start for the ADM Tiger Baseball squad.
Jason Book’s team was 0-2 with losses to Des Moines Roosevelt and Gilbert before getting to host its delayed Raccoon River Conference opener versus Bondurant-Farrar last Thursday.
ADM trailed 9-6 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. In that half inning, things started clicking. Big plays from the Williamson boys, Chase Anderson, and an RBI from Kaden Sutton, and heading into top of the 7th, ADM carried a lead into the home stretch for the first time all season.
Kolton Benz closed out Bondurant and picked up the win in relief duties on the mound.
That’s how the hot playing started for ADM.
Friday, the Tigers picked up a road win in Perry 10-0, and advanced to 2-0 in RRC play. On Saturday, ADM played in a weekend tournament in Coon Rapids. The Tigers bested CR-B 10-1, and then outlasted Pleasantville in Coon Rapids 7-4. The Tigers picked up win #5 in a row on Monday, defeating Winterset in an RRC match-up 3-2.
ADM will look to continue its hot play tonight on the road, with a contest in Ogden starting at 7:00pm.
