A reminder: the annual Perry Public Library Kidsfest is happening today, and the public is invited to help blast off this year’s Summer Reading Program.
Kidsfest will orbit around this year’s reading program theme, “Universe of Stories.” The event runs from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with activities located in the public library, the Carnegie Library Museum, and between the two on Railroad Street. There are games, face painting, balloon twisting, farm animals, and more, all of which are free. A new aspect this year is “Touch a Truck,” where kids have an opportunity to interact with different vehicles the City of Perry owns, including fire trucks, police cruisers, and public works vehicles.
The Perry Fire Department is also on hand offering lunch for $1, which includes a choice of hotdog or pork sandwich, chips, cookie, and a bottle of water. All proceeds go towards the Perry Firefighters Association. Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio is once again at Kidsfest, set up on Railroad Street to broadcast live, play music, and provide public address services.
