As we cruise into the summer months, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to be wary of two-wheel motorists on the roads.
There were 42 motorcycle fatalities in Iowa in 2018, and Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says these crashes can be prevented by mindful driving, “With motorcycles out on the highway, people need to be aware of them coming down the highway or if you pull up to an intersection in a vehicle. Some people in a motor vehicle just don’t look for motorcycles, you have to have that in your mind that there could be a motorcyclist coming and give it some time to look and look again before you pull out. That’s how a lot of accidents happen.”
Arganbright strongly encourages motorcyclists to wear helmets and other protective gear, and to watch out for loose objects like gravel and grass clippings on roadways.
