Dallas County Conservation is continuing their Big Year Birding Challenge in June, and they have programs for kids and adults the next two Saturdays.

This coming Saturday, Conservation is partnering with the Iowa Young Birders group to host a field trip at Voas Nature Area and other bird hot spots around the County. The club is for kids between the ages of 8-18. The following Saturday, June 8th, bird lovers are invited to an event at the Kuehn Conservation Area from 8-11 a.m. Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer says attendees at both events will help progress their goal for 2019. “We’ve been birding all season, you know kind of our Dallas County Big Year. And our goal is to get to 100 species, and with that spring migration I think we’re going to get there. So yeah, it’s a great opportunity. You know, beginners are definitely welcome to join us for the bird events!”

Keffer adds, both of the upcoming bird programs are free to attend, though registration is required. The Iowa Young Birders also request that participants join their organization before attending their field trip, and that can be done by clicking the link below. For more information or to sign-up for the events, stop in or call Forest Park Museum in Perry at 515-465-3577.
